What happens in a session
Sessions last between one and two hours. The first session starts with you talking to me about the issue you want to resolve and what you want to achieve.
I'll want to find out all about you before the hypnosis part of the session begins. Then I can decide on the most appropriate therapeutic techniques for you.
I’ll make notes of what you say so that I can use your exact words in the hypnosis part - your way of saying what you want to achieve is so much more powerful to you than phrases I might use.
I'll discuss with you what techniques I'll use as it's important for you to feel comfortable before we start. Hypnotherapy is a partnership where you and I work together to deal with your issue.
You'll be able to ask any questions before the hypnosis part starts. When the hypnosis begins, you’ll sit, or recline, in a comfortable place while you relax, physically and mentally.
Even when hypnotised, you are in control and cannot be made to do anything you don't want to do. You can speak and move, although sometimes it feels as if it's just too much effort to do so, you are so relaxed.
I may ask you to do some assignments between the sessions. These will involve you beginning to think and do things differently outside the therapy space, so that you take on new positive habits to replace the old ones that are no longer working for you.
